Here is a money-saving bit of information about Champagne and sparkling
wine. The word "Champagne" is actually the name of a place in France
where a specific type of sparkling wine is made. All sparkling wine is
not Champagne, but all Champagne is sparkling wine. Sparkling wine can
only be called Champagne if it is made in Champagne. Thus, it costs
more. To save money on your "Champagne" toast, or your entire bar tab,
request sparkling wine, or buy it yourself, but skip the Champagne.
Your guests will be none the wiser and your wallet will be happy. Look
for {Italian} Spumante, {German} Sekt... even the English are producing
