My favorite by a landslide on this
topic. I
read it twice and still think it's great! It's funny, irreverant, and
very truthful. Ideas on eloping anywhere, with any budget -- Vegas to
Venice. Read this book!

My
copy of this book is getting a little worn
out; there are paper clips and Post-It Notes and Highliter marks over
the pages; I think I need a new copy. I
went to bed with this book
more than once while reading it straight through the first
time. Now I flip
through it
regularly while looking
for ideas while I'm writing ceremonies. Written with the warmth and
generous
spirit of a
truly loving minister,
Rev. Johnson understands the love and enthusiasm of the
soon-to-be
married couple.
This is a must-have if
you're working on your own ceremony!

This
is a classic ceremony-writing book, in
workbook format. It's got several complete ceremonies (including
a very nice Spanish ceremony!)
and
numerous
selections of vows, ring
ceremonies, blessings, prayers, etc. An added bonus: an
entire section
devoted entirely to
Processions and Recessions. A very pleasant book

I had the pleasure of meeting Tara Guérard on Saturday, February 3rd, 2007, while she was on her book tour. I've known about her for some time -- who in the wedding industry doesn't? She is the finest wedding planner in the Southeast, and the owner of
Soirée, Inc. I had been eagerly anticipating the release of her book for weeks. I was at B&N, waiting to meet a couple for a consultation when her entourage arrived, and I was able to chat with her briefly after my couple left. She is a lovely and gracious person possessing great charm, wit, and elegance. I'll have a photo of her here soon; her publisher did a wonderful job promoting her book. She was surrounded by brides and wedding-related paraphernalia (cakes, bridal gown retailers, etc.). Barnes & Noble went all out and had a "wedding day" for her. I have devoured the book (having paid FULL RETAIL PRICE for it, mind you! -- I could not wait to get home to review it here!). It has spectacular photos and hundreds of fresh and absolutely do-able ideas. Tara has done what other wedding-planning book authors have failed to do: captured several weddings from beginning to end, instead of bits of one here and one there. Martha Stewart, eat your heart out! |

Diane Warner is my hero. She is one of the most prolific wedding-writers out there, and she does not disappoint in this nice little guide. Lots of good selections of ceremony
elements, as well as some of her usual excellent advice.

If you buy these two books together, you won't miss a trick. You'll have everything you need for a complete tradition, formal, or semi-formal wedding. You can use these for an informal wedding, or a casual wedding. Also, to get ideas, but USE YOUR IMAGINATION.

This is just a cool book. Lots of very smart ideas from some of the most amazing people in the business, as well as from Robbi himself, who is the Great Guru of weddings, the founder of June Wedding, Inc., which is an enormous association for event people. He's wonderful and brilliant. Listen to Robbi, he knows what's good for you.

These
are the clever
folks you've seen on Oprah who can save you money on anything. They've
written baby
books and whatnot.
I don't even know what printing this book is into now. My copy is
falling apart and
some of the stuff in
it is SO OLD, like "Some brides are even buying gowns off the
Internet!" Okay, so maybe I have, in my possession, the Gutenberg Bible of Bridal Bargains, but it's still the best book on wedding savings around. Take a look, it's worth it! |
